BAM honors actor, writer, and director Ethan Hawke, author Walter Mosley, and philanthropists William I. Campbell and Christine Wächter-Campbell for their invaluable contributions to film, literature, performing and visual arts, and cultural philanthropy. Gala chairs are Judith R. and Alan H. Fishman (BAM Chairman Emeritus), and Dorothy Lichtenstein. BAM President Katy Clark, BAM Artistic Director David Binder, and Diane Max and BAM Board Chair Adam Max, are the evening’s hosts. The Gala’s coinciding art auction this year is led by BAM Trustee co-chairs Tony Bechara and Mark Diker, and features works by artists Rita Ackermann, Sarah Braman, Peter Doig, Deborah Kass, Shinique Smith, Pat Steir, and Massimo Vitali, among many others. Works are on view throughout the event and online via Paddle8. rag & bone is the Evening Partner of BAM Gala 2019. The menu features artful cuisine by Great Performances and wine generously provided by the Crimson Wine Group.
The iconic Neneh Cherry performs an eclectic set including songs from her new album, Broken Politics, and dance from Raja Feather Kelly’s transcendent company, the feath3r theory.
